Annual Fund Drive

Dear Patron,

As we begin this year’s Annual Fund Drive, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your continued support of the Burton Public Library. The generosity and care this community shows for its library is both humbling and inspiring.

Last year, we asked for your help in funding the modernization of our elevator. I’m happy to report that we’ve secured the necessary funding, and the project is expected to take place in the coming year.

In 2026, our country celebrates its 250th anniversary. As we reflect on this milestone, it’s remarkable to consider that our library building — constructed in 1885—has stood for more than half of our nation’s history. Initially the building served as our community’s school. Later, the Burton Public Library was officially formed in 1910 and has proudly served this community for 115 years. Since 1937, we’ve called our historic building home, making us a vital part of Geauga County’s—and Ohio’s—rich heritage.

We take seriously our responsibility to preserve this beautiful Queen Anne-style building. Maintaining it is both a privilege and a significant undertaking. This year, we’re working with both an architect and a structural engineer to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the building’s needs over the next decade. Our goal is to ensure that this landmark continues to serve future generations for the next 140 years.

To support this effort, we are asking for your contributions toward the preservation of our historic library. Your generosity will help us protect and maintain this treasured space.

As part of the national celebration in 2026, we’re also excited to announce a monthly history lecture series. Each session will explore a different aspect of local and state history, and we hope you’ll join us in discovering more about our shared past.

Thank you, as always, for your consideration and continued support.

Sincerely,
Katie Ringenbach
Library Director
